After a hectic weave through Venice (literally), we drove down to Finale Ligure, into a small cute town of Finalborgo & stayed in Piazza S.Biagio. The drive was an adventure in itself (I clutched for dear life) so thank GOD we made it safely & I thankfully had G who is quite proficient with driving on the right side.  Here are a couple of things I learnt from Finale Ligure:

  • If G had not suggested this place for his mountain biking, I would not have known its existence. I now learnt that this is the place where mountain bikers, hikers & climbers alike gather for their amazing routes. G booked a private guide to take him mountain biking & he still raves on about how good it was
  • Besides our AirBnB host, noone else spoke English, which also meant all menus were in Italian. So bring your Google translate out
  • 150KM+ seem to be the average speed on the freeway which made driving super scary in the beginning
  • To sit by the beach with an umbrella & sunbed cost 15euros- this was at Vittoria Beach
  • The Italians really know how to ‘enjoy life’. Small boutique shops open from 10-12:30PM & then again from 4:30PM till 8PM (siesta?)
  • Bar Centrale has the best gelati
  • Sitting around in the piazza & on benches is the communal thing to do in this beautiful town. Old & young gather in the square whilst enjoying gelati & wine
  • Highly recommend you guys to go!
  • Super relaxing, charming & beautiful compared to hectic Venice

 Enjoying lunch outdoors

The laneways & alleys are lined with cute little cafes where you can sit for yonks, read a book or people watch  Stuffing my face with an early morning breakfast of brioche with a cappucino
A bruschetta treat which is becoming my favourite

We randomly pointed to this on the menu, not knowing what it was. So good though!
